State nears resting case in YSL RICO trial | Live stream

The state's final witness will continue their testimony on Monday.

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Prosecutors in Georgia’s longest-running criminal trial are expected to conclude their case soon in the YSL RICO trial, with only two defendants remaining.

This high-profile trial has been ongoing for years as the state seeks to establish that members of the alleged gang Young Slime Life (YSL) engaged in criminal activities across the Atlanta metro area.

The prosecution's final witness in the trial, a gang investigator at the Fulton County District Attorney's Office, will continue testifying on Monday. Her testimony is expected to tie the state's argument together before prosecutors rest their case.

The state previously told the court that it expects to finish the case this month before the holidays.

Notably, Atlanta rapper Young Thug, a central figure in the case, recently pleaded guilty to drug and gun charges. About two weeks ago, he was released from jail on a 15-year probation sentence after his plea agreement, leaving the remaining defendants to face ongoing prosecution.

The state has continued presenting its case, attempting to connect YSL associates to multiple crimes throughout the city.

As the prosecution prepares to rest, the defense is expected to start its arguments soon. The timeline for the defense phase remains uncertain, but given the trial’s history and the volume of evidence, it could stretch over several weeks.
