FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — A man who led law enforcement officers on a pursuit that went through the parking lot of a Dunkin' Donuts - is behind bars.
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office charged Jeremiah Reeves of Atlanta with possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, fleeing and attempting to elude, and other charges.
Deputies said a sergeant made a traffic stop on May 2 on a Mazda van for an expired tag. Video shows the situation as it unfolds.
You see the deputy approach the driver, who pulled into an auto parts parking lot. He said he needed to get some antifreeze for the vehicle. There were others in the van with him.
The deputy explains to him his tags are expired and asked who did the vehicle belong to. The driver replied it was his cousin's van. He keeps walking away from the deputy, then, all of a sudden, the situation intensifies.
After the short conversation, Reeves jumped back in the van. His three passengers get out.
Deputy: Stop! Stop!
From the angle of the body camera, you see the deputy with a weapon in his hand.
Deputy: Get down, get down!
Deputy: Get down! Stop, stop stop!
The driver doesn't stop. He's off with the doors still open. Authorities said Reeves drove down Keith Bridge through a Dunkin' Donuts parking lot, then down Highway 369/Browns Bridge.
The chase continues, passing cars along the way, that yield to stay out of of harm's way. The pursuit ends after the driver crashes the van into a ditch on Bethel Road.
Reeves is also charged with possession of a marijuana, obstruction, no valid driver's license and multiple traffic citations. One of the passengers, McKalley Emanuel, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
Police said the other two passengers were given a ride back to work.
