SENOIA, Ga. — Jimmy Novak, an Army veteran from Washington State, has decided to walk across the nation to raise awareness for the mental health of U.S. soldiers.
After retiring from the Army in January, Novak says he suffered from suicidal thoughts, but was too afraid to tell anyone about. After getting the help he needed, Novak decided to confront a problem he and millions of other people suffer from. He is walking to bring attention to mental health services for veterans, PTSD, and suicide awareness.
Novak is documenting his journey on Instagram for people to follow along. People are using #jimmywalking to track his progress.
His most recent stop was in Senoia, Georgia. Novak stopped at Nic & Norman's for a burger, and was greeted by people in the community as he walked.
11Alive will continue to track Novak's journey, to let your family know where he will be traveling to next.
