GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Ten schools in Georgia were among the 356 recognized this week by the U.S. Department of Education as National Blue Ribbon Schools.

Gwinnett County in particular stands out with five schools recognized from the Gwinnett County Public Schools system.

Schools are recognized in the National Blue Ribbon panel for two performance categories, either exemplary high performance as measured on state assessments or national tests; or exemplary performance in closing achievement gaps.

Chosen schools are recognized as "models of effective and innovative practices for educators across the nation."
