ATLANTA — U.S. News has released its rankings of the best high schools in the state of Georgia.
At the top of the list was Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology, which ranked 9th in the website's rankings for the whole country.
U.S. News found that the technical school had a graduation rate of 99% and gave students the "opportunity to take Advanced Placement coursework and exams." The outlet reported that nearly 86% of the school's roughly 1,200 students from grades 9 through 12 are minorities and boasts a low student-teacher ratio at 17-1. Test scores at the school for the annual Georgia Milestones Assessment outperform both the district and state in all categories -- reading, mathematics and science.
Schools in Forsyth County were also well-represented in the top-10 list, with three schools from the district -- Alliance Academy for Innovation, South Forsyth High and Lambert High -- named amongst the best.
