High-tech lab that looks like Wall Street unveiled at Georgia Gwinnett College

The SIM lab will help provide GGC students taking data-intensive courses with high-end, state-of-the-art technology.

ATLANTA — A new high-tech lab that looks like something right out of Wall Street is now at Georgia Gwinnett College.

The Lawrenceville college unveiled its new simulation (SIM) lab during a ribbon cutting earlier this month. The SIM lab will help provide GGC students taking data-intensive courses with high-end, state-of-the-art technology.

"The Simulation lab is our newest and most innovative classroom on campus. It's got a lot of different flexible options for instructors to try to deliver the material of the curriculum in varied ways," Dr. Jason Delaney, associate dean at GGC's School of Business said.

Designed with a real-time LED stock ticker that wraps around the entire room, the lab will benefit business majors specifically as they work to complete their senior capstone, Delaney said.

As the largest single-major at the college, providing the 2,600 business students currently enrolled with key resources to succeed was essential to the college, according to Delaney.

Planning for the lab began five years ago, with special detail given to every new feature in the SIM lab. Everything from the ticker, self-contained workstations with on-demand monitors and wireless collaboration areas was considered for present and future use, according to GGC.

"I know it's helping people envision a future for themselves within the business community," Delaney said.
