ATLANTA — A Georgia State University professor surprised her class of aspiring lawyers with a trip of a lifetime with a twist on learning.

Students will head to the home of the Eiffel Tower for the 2024 Olympics to learn the "Legal of Life of the Olympic Games." The trip will be a part of their class, which teaches the students about the ins and outs of sports law, a release stated.

"I am beyond excited this semester to teach the business and legal issues related to the Olympic Games," said GSU Professor Mo Ivory. " From the structure and governance of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) to broadcasting sponsorship deals, intellectual property rights, anti-doping regulations, humanitarian issues and more, the students will immerse themselves in the Olympic experience."

Delta Air Lines is sponsoring the trip for the students to explore the Olympic Village, visit the Team USA House, attend the opening ceremonies, and more.

GSU Professor Ivory developed the course with a focus on giving students an immersive experience that will allow them to be engaged in the material, according to a news release.

Throughout the course, Ivory introduced her students to guest speakers whose goal was to educate students on governing bodies that operate and help prepare athletes for the Games. The professor also used resources from the university's partnership with the USA Track & Field to help her students have an inside look at real-life legal examples in the industry, said the university in its release.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Professor Ivory and Georgia State University College of Law, to provide a unique educational opportunity for their law students. By offering students a closer look at the operations of USA Track & Field, we hope to contribute to their understanding of the legal landscape in sports and inspire the next generation of legal professionals in this field,” said Max Siegel, CEO of USA Track & Field.
