ATLANTA — Do you have money? Because you'll need it if you want to attend these universities.

The cost to attend some of metro Atlanta's colleges has risen more than 30%, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

Our partners there looked at decades worth of data from the Department of Education.

In Georgia, three private schools top the list of the state's most expensive colleges.

  1. Emory University - $78,814 (35% increase over 10 years)
  2. Agnes Scott College - $62,448 (37% increase over 10 years)
  3. Oglethorpe University - $62,340 (40% increase over 10 years)

Meanwhile, Georgia's public colleges saw a much smaller price increase.

For example, the cost of attending either the University of Georgia or Georgia Tech only went up about 18% over the past 10 years.

The paper adds that "several factors are driving the change, including the looming enrollment cliff that will reduce potential student populations and dwindling support from state governments."
