ATLANTA — A staff member at an Atlanta school faces serious allegations after he was arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student.
Jail records and a spokesman for Atlanta Public Schools confirm Jovan Burton was arrested Monday as a result of an investigation into the allegations. Burton worked at Coretta Scott King Young Women's Leadership Academy. He resigned the same day.
In a statement, APS said it takes seriously "any instances of employee misconduct, and we will remain vigilant in our efforts to make sure all of our campuses are safe and secure for our students, staff and visitors."
Burton now faces charges of sexual assault by a teacher, principal or other administrator.
