BLACKPINK announces Atlanta stop on world tour

Here's when tickets go on sale and where the famed K-pop group will perform.

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — K-pop fans rejoice.  The popular Korean group BLACKPINK has announced its first-ever North American appearances - and they'll be heading to Atlanta.

Infinite Energy Arena in Gwinnett County will be one of just six stops the band will be making on the continent as part of the BLACKPINK 2019 World Tour.

The group, which formed in 2016, has become one of the biggest acts in the K-pop genre which has also seen growing success in the U.S. The group released their newest album, "Square Up" in June shooting to #30 on the Billboard 200 and taking the top spot on the Billboard World Albums chart.

Even outside the recording scene directly, the girl group has 17 million subscribers on YouTube, 15 million followers on Instagram and 14 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

Organizers said the performers will also be the first K-pop girl group to perform a world tour with a live band.

Tickets go on sale on Feb. 20 at 4 p.m. with VIP tickets also available.
