ATLANTA — In the last decade, Florida Georgia Line were one of the most recognizable acts in country music, reeling off a string of No. 1 hits on the country charts and gaining crossover pop success on songs like "Meant to Be."
But more recently the duo - named in part for Tyler Hubbard's roots in Monroe, Georgia and Brian Kelley's in Florida - have been on a hiatus.
Hubbard was a featured act on Wednesday night at "CMA Fest," building off the solo success he's had in the last year with singles "5 foot 9" and "Dancin' in the Country."
Kelley, meanwhile, is soon to release his own solo album, with his initial single "See You Next Summer" gaining traction on country charts.
With both halves of the duo seemingly flourishing, what does that mean for the Florida Georgia Act itself?
Did Florida Georgia Line break up?
Not in quite those words, but in a sense yes.
There's no acrimony between Hubbard and Kelley, though. They spoke to People back in February 2022 about "taking a break."
"We're not going our separate ways," Kelley told People. "We're taking a break from recording our music. We're being artists. We love creating. And so a couple years back, we started writing without each other and trying different writers, and now we're both doing that with our music."
Hubbard said "taking a break" is the "proper term, as opposed to breaking up."
But for now, there's no active Florida Georgia Line pairing. Late last year, they released a greatest hits album.
