CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Atlanta rapper Offset will face one less charge when he goes to court in May for a 2018 arrest.
Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was arrested last summer when a traffic stop for failure to maintain lane led to charges stemming from possession of marijuana and gun possession.
As a convicted felon, Offset was charged for multiple crimes from the stop, but the possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime charge has been dropped.
According to the Clayton County District Attorney's Office, in order to be charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, the crime has to be a felony. And, since the amount of marijuana allegedly in the car was less than an ounce - a misdemeanor - the charge couldn't legally be held against him.
He still faces charges including possession of a gun by a convicted felon, illegal lane change and possession of marijuana. Offset has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Outside of his own fame, the rapper is known as one-third of the rap group Migos and is married to rapper Cardi B. Just recently, the couple made headlines for reportedly buying five homes in Clayton County.
