KOUNTZE, Texas -- An East Texas mother is facing possible criminal charges after her baby was attacked by a pet raccoon.
Police said a 19-year-old mother ran to a nearby fire station with her bleeding 2-week-old baby boy.
The mom's boyfriend said he found the baby screaming with one of the family's raccoons scratching his face.
Angry family members defended the mother and blasted authorities outside the police station.
The animal was euthanized and was being tested for rabies. The baby was expected to be OK.
