ATLANTA -- With his beautiful voice and his three names, James David Carter won us, and the judges over, with his very first performance on the voice.
A Florida native who'd become a transplanted Atlantan, Carter came on Atlanta Alive. He brought his guitar, and he asked Chesley to join him for an unforgettable duet.
We were sure he would make Top 12, but he didn't.
At 11 Alive studios six months after being on the show, Carter says, "I always say it gave me a steroid shot of exposure."
The exposure on the Voice will hopefully give Carter an edge as he releases his first album, 'Songs on the radio.'
"The songs on 'Songs on the radio' are kind of like a throwback to 90's country, storytelling songs.
It's not easy, being an independent artist , trying to get your songs on the radio, but if Carter's fans buy it online and listen to it, and tell their friends, there's nothing to stop it from climbing the charts.
"Whenever you release new music it always feels a bit like Christmas, so it's Christmas in May for me right now."
