Gas prices still declining throughout Georgia

Statewide average fell about five cents last week.

ATLANTA — Gas prices are still plunging around Georgia, with the statewide average falling about five cents from a week ago, according to AAA data.

Average prices around the state have fallen to around $2.52, down from $2.57 a week ago.

In Atlanta, the average has fallen four cents in the last week to $2.55, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of more than 2,000 stations.

The cheapest station is $2.21 – at the Costco on 1700 Mount Zion Rd. and the Sam’s Club at 7325 Jonesboro Rd., both in Morrow - and the most expensive is at $3.19, according to GasBuddy.

Georgia is well below the national average of about $2.75, according to AAA, down more than 25 cents from this time a year ago.

According to GasBuddy historical data, averages around Atlanta surged through the summer last year, but dipped around this time the previous two years.
