ATLANTA — After a three-year credentialing process, the nursing staff at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta - Scottish Rite learned Monday that they have received Magnet recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
In addition, the staff at Scottish Rite received three 'Exemplars' from the credentialing body relating to exceptional performance under categories relating to exemplary professional practice.
Magnet recognition for a hospital indicates that its nursing leaders have aligned their strategic goals to provide the highest standard of care for patients.
They are also geared toward providing a business growth and financial success model that is dedicated to providing the highest level of growth and success for staff.
The program was established in 1990, with the goal of allowing recognized hospitals to attract and retain quality nursing staff and to ensure that those staffers remain content. By doing so, they are able to lower nursing attrition and improve the overall patient experience. In addition, this allows an institution to attract and reward quality nursing talent.
Magnet-recognized organizations utilize a collaborative culture which allows nurses to be valued as significant partners in a patient's healthcare experience.
This will allow patients to enjoy a higher level of overall service and safety from nurses, lower mortality rates, lower hospital-based infection rates, lower in-patient fall rates, and overall higher quality of care for patients inside the institution.
Scottish Rite not only joins its sister facility, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta - Egleston as a Magnet-recognized hospital, but also seven other hospitals around the state: Atlanta VA Medical Center in Decatur, Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Emory University Orthopaedics & Spine Hospital in Tucker, Saint Joseph's/Candler Hospital in Savannah, The Medical Center, Navicent Health in Macon and University Hospital in Augusta.
