Atlanta-based Gas South employees will work from home in preparation for coronavirus disruptions

One day next week, remote work will be a requirement.

ATLANTA — Atlanta-based Gas South will institute a work-from-home day for all employees in a dry run for potential coronavirus disruptions.

On Wednesday, the company’s 225 employees had the option to work from home, CEO Kevin Greiner told Atlanta Business Chronicle, but one day next week remote work will be a requirement.

“We’re asking everybody who has a broadband connection at home to work from home,” he said.

Gas South has encouraged a culture of remote work prior to coronavirus fears. Greiner said many of the customer care agents at the company work from home one day per week.

“We provide hardware and software that each team member needs to do their jobs away from the office, whether they’re a customer care agent, a natural gas trader, a salesperson, an accountant, or a programmer,” Greiner said. “Fortunately, we made the necessary investments years ago and most of our team members are accustomed to working remotely.”
