ATLANTA — Absentee ballots and early voting options remain available for Georgia residents as ways to avoid crowds and minimize possible exposure to the coronavirus, according to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

“Georgia has made convenient and easy ways to avoid crowds while voting through three weeks of early voting and no-excuse absentee ballots,” Raffensperger said in a release.

As of last Monday morning, according to a release from the secretary of state's office, 153,000 ballots have been cast in the primary ahead of the March 24 election.

Of those, 129,000 were cast in person at early-voting locations in each county, while another 24,000 were cast as absentee ballots. Raffensperger's office says that 100,000 were Democratic ballots, 52,000 were Republican and and another 608 were non-partisan.

Can I vote by mail?

Voters considering an absentee ballot should not procrastinate in order to allow plenty of time for the ballot to be mailed to them, as well as time for it to be mailed back to their county elections office.

In order to vote absentee by mail, visit your home county's election website. Then, mail, fax, email (as an attachment), or drop the competed application off at your county registrar's office.
