Emergency vehicles drive by CDC, hospitals in parade to show appreciation to healthcare workers

The parade happened during the evening shift change to show appreciation to the healthcare workers who are helping fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

ATLANTA — If you were anywhere near Clifton Road in Atlanta Wednesday evening, it was hard to miss the police presence and sirens.

The heavy traffic wasn't for an emergency, it was to honor to healthcare workers.

Emory Police and Emory EMS hosted a parade with emergency vehicles. Crews activated their lights as they passed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,  Emory University Hospital,  Children's Healthcare of Atlanta- Egleston Hospital, and other healthcare clinics near Clifton Road.

The parade happened during the evening shift change to show appreciation to the medical professionals who are helping fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Emory posted a short clip on social media showing the parade of first responders. People can be seen standing along the sidewalk waving as the parade passed by.

Emory said that more than 100 first responders from Emory Police, Emory EMS, DeKalb Fire, DeKalb Police, and American Medical Response DeKalb were participating.

Some took to social media, call the sight "heartwarming.".
