ATLANTA — As the COVID-19 coronavirus spreads, sports leagues, conferences, events, and musical acts are all reconsidering regular plans.
As these public gatherings get canceled or postponed, we'll be updating you as we learn of them.

Hunger Walk Run: The Hunger Walk Run that was scheduled to take place Sunday, March has been canceled. However, since this is a critical fundraiser for the Food Bank and others, the event is going virtual.
Event organizers said people can take selfies while walking in their neighborhoods or doing another physical activities. They've posted additional information about how to make donations on its website.Erykah Badu/Common concert at State Farm Arena, March 13: Postponed, State Farm Arena announced.
- Star Wars: Return of the Jedi in Concert at Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, March 13: This has been postponed.
- Georgia Student Technology Competition, March 14: "It is with a heavy heart that given the nature of COVID-19, we have decided to cancel this year's competition," organizers of the state competition say on their website. The next one is scheduled for March 13, 2021.
- Atlanta St. Patrick's Day Parade, March 14: The Atlanta Police Department has announced this is canceled.
- "Ask A Scientist" program at the Jimmy Carter Library, March 14: Canceled "in an effort to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus," the library said in a tweet.
- Luck of The Square at Colony Square, March 14: The St. Patrick's Day themed event is canceled, according to the Colony Square website.
- East Point Decennial Census Count the Point Prayer Breakfast, March 14: It was going to be held at the First Mallalieu United Methodist Church.
- For the Love of Paws Gala benefiting Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, March 14: It was set to be held at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead.
- Star Wars: Return of the Jedi in Concert at Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, March 14: The second night of this performance has also been postponed.
- Forysthia Festival, March 2014-15: The Forsyth-Monroe Chamber said on Facebook that, "This was not an easy decision, but the safety and well-being of our community is our highest priority."
- American Craft Show, March 13-15: The American Craft Show in Atlanta has been canceled.
- National Association for College Admission Counseling Atlanta National College Fair, March 15: This was to take place at the Georgia International Convention Center.
- Andre Rieu concert at State Farm Arena, March 15: Postponed, State Farm Arena announced.
- Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra Crescendo Concert, March 15: This has been postponed.
- Town Hall meeting with Cobb County commissioner Bob Ott, March 17: It was to take place at Chestnut Ridge Christian Church.
- Electric Vehicle Day at the Georgia State Capitol, March 17: "We are exploring our options for rescheduling the event," organizers said in a release.
- National Council on Public History, March 18-21: "Given the unfolding outbreak of COVID-19, the NCPH Board of Directors and staff have concluded, with regret, that we cannot proceed with holding the in-person 2020 NCPH annual meeting in Atlanta," the organization says. They are looking at ways to arrange the meeting in a virtual setting.
- High Museum Atlanta Wine Auction events, March 18-21: The annual fundraising extravaganza and its associated events are canceled. "Uncertainty regarding present circumstances, we know one thing is clear: The wellbeing of our traveling vintners, auction attendees, sponsors, and members of our community is paramount," organizers said on Facebook.
- Annual Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting, March 19-21: The Hinman Dental Society was to hold the event at the Georgia World Congress Center. "Our concern is not only for the health of everyone involved, but also the quality of event that we can deliver with the current logistical challenges we are facing," the group says.
- Atlanta Women's Chorus "She Rises" show, March 20-21: “We regret that our audiences will not be able to see ‘She Rises,’ a show which our members and staff have worked hard to prepare for, on March 20 and 21,” said Eve Campbell, Executive Director for Voices of Note, the parent organization for the chorus.
- Congressman Hank Johnson Census Town Hall, March 21: This was set to be held in Clarkston. A spokesman says it has been postponed until further notice.
- Atlanta Science Festival Exploration Expo, March 21: Atlanta Science Festival has decided to cancel its Exploration Expo at Piedmont Park. Other events will continue as planned. Check the the Atlanta Science Festival website for up-to-date details about each event.
- Clark Atlanta University Founders'/Inauguration Week activities, March 16-22: All "large-scale" activities surrounding these events were postponed, the school announced on Instagram.
- Atlanta Home Show, March 20-22: Anyone who has purchased a ticket may attend an upcoming home show in September, Feb. 2021, and March 2021.
- ATL REIGN homestand, March 21-22: The Atlanta Reign March Homestead, scheduled for next weekend, has been canceled. See the esports team's statement at www.atlreign.com.
- Conyers Cherry Blossom Festival, Dash into Spring 5K, March 21-22: Reported by On Common Ground News.
- PFLAG Johns Creek Safety & Self-Defense Workshop, March 22: The organization has announced this is canceled.
- Georgia Chamber of Commerce Future of Free Enterprise seminar, March 23: Postponed because of individual company restrictions on attending. "A rescheduled date will be announced later in the second quarter," the chamber says.
- Georgia Chamber of Commerce Future of Rural Healthcare seminar, March 25: "Due to the heightened awareness of global health concerns in Georgia, the Georgia Chamber respects the demands of healthcare professionals’ time and wishes to alleviate any external commitments for this critical industry to Georgia’s overall well-being," the chamber says. Future dates will be announced.
- Solid Waste Association of North America SWANApalooza, March 23-26: "The health and safety of attendees, speakers, exhibitors and staff must be our top priority," the organization says. It is planning on rescheduling.
- Congressman David Scott's annual jobs fair at Georgia International Convention Center, March 27: “In response to recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding the coronavirus, I have decided to cancel our 2020 Jobs Fair," the representative from Georgia's 13th congressional district said. "This situation is rapidly evolving and changing from day-to-day. Keeping our community safe and healthy is of the utmost priority to me.”
- American Society on Aging 2020 Aging in America Conference, March 24-27: "After thoughtful review and consideration, (we) are most concerned with the health and welfare of all member attendees while at the conference and then returning to work healthy in service of older adults," the organization says on its website.
- Congressman John Lewis' 80th Birthday Celebration, March 28: "I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to those who had planned to attend my celebration and I hope that all will be able to join us once it's rescheduled," Lewis said. "My thoughts and prayers are with those who are affected by coronavirus until then." The Congressman's office says they will reschedule the celebration for a date later this year.
- State Board of Education public hearing in Jefferson County, March 30: It has been postponed.
- V103 Live concert at State Farm Arena: Postponed, State Farm Arena announced.
- Georgia Special Olympics practices and competitions, through March 31: The organization says it will reevaluate the situation at the end of the month. "We did not make this decision lightly and know that it will have an impact on Special Olympics Georgia athletes around the state," a statement said.
- All Cobb County SPLOST Open House meetings, through March 31: The county board of commissioners chairman Mike Boyce "considered this a prudent move based on concerns of residents and the desire the help staff focus primarily on protecting our community by handling other issues as they develop," a statement said.
- Fulton County Schools School Board community meetings, through March 31: "The decision was made in an effort to limit face-to-face meetings while the school system manages information and plans related to COVID-19/coronavirus," the school said in a release. The status of any April meetings is unclear.
- The Masters, April 9-12: Augusta National Golf Club announced the tournament would be postponed.
- U.S. General Services Administration Federal Acquisition Service Training, April 14-16: This was set to be held at the Georgia World Congress Center.
- Georgia Tech Cognitive Aging Conference, April 16-19: Postponed due to travel restrictions making it "impossible for many people to attend," the school says. They are looking at hotel availability for summer and fall 2020 to reschedule.
- WordCamp Atlanta 2020, April 18-19: The WordPress conference is being canceled "with deep reluctance and sadness," organizers said.
- Town Hall meeting with Cobb County commissioner Bob Ott, April 21: It was to take place at East Cobb Library.
- World Natural Hair and Healthy Lifestyle Event, April 25-26: "Wellness is at the core of our events mission and your safety will always come first," a statement on the event's website says, adding it is being canceled with "deep regret."
- Out of state field trips and travel otherwise: Atlanta Public Schools and DeKalb County Public Schools are among the districts that have canceled such arrangements. Others are reviewing.
- Atlanta Hawks games, indefinitely: The NBA has suspended its season, it is not clear when or if it will resume.
- College Park Skyhawks games, indefinitely: The G-League is also suspended.
- Atlanta United games, indefinitely: MLS has reportedly suspended its season, as well.
- Fan attendance at the Final Four: The culmination of March Madness was set to be held at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in April. The NCAA is now going ahead with plans to play those games without fans.
- Brenau University events, various dates: The opening reception for “L.A. Stories," Colossal Prints, Opera Workshop: Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Dempsey Dash 5K and 1K Fun Run, Brenau Cotillion, and the Women’s Leadership Colloquium events have all been postponed.
- All in-person canvassing for congressional candidate Nabilah Islam: This applies to all campaign staff and volunteers, as well as Islam herself. She is running in Georgia's 7th District.
- Altered - Communion at all Atlanta Catholic parishes, duration of Lent: "The Archdiocese has directed all Catholic parishes in Atlanta to distribute communion “under one species, the Precious Body," a statement provided to 11Alive says.
- The Democratic Party of Georgia (DPG) has decided to postpone all party events for the foreseeable future, including DPG’s State Celebration scheduled for March 21.
- Atlanta Community Food Bank Hunger Walk: The annual Hunger Walk Run that was scheduled to take place this Sunday, March 15 because of the spreading COVID-19.
- Junior League of Atlanta, Inc. Shamrock 'N Roll Road Race: Canceled for Saturday, March 14
- Douglas County Superior Court: Jury trials are canceled for two weeks, for the weeks of March 16 and March 23
- Tucker Chili Cook-off: The event has been postponed.
- Cherry Blossom Festival: The Brookhaven event scheduled for March 28 and 29 has been canceled.
- Kelly Loeffler campaigns: The Georgia Senator's campaign will be temporarily postponing large political rallies and events
- Lawrenceville St. Paddy’s On Perry Event: The event scheduled for March 14 has been canceled.
- Atlanta Home Show: The shows, scheduled for March 20-22 at the Cobb Galleria Center has been canceled. Anyone who has purchased an advance ticket to the Atlanta Home Show may use those tickets at these upcoming events: Fall Atlanta Home Show, Sept. 11-13 2020 at the Cobb Galleria Center; North Atlanta Home Show, Feb. 12-14, 2021 at The Forum at Infinite Energy Center; Atlanta Home Show, March 19-21, 2021 at Cobb Galleria Centre
- SAT test at Duluth High School: The test scheduled for Saturday, March 14 has been canceled. Parents and students should contact College Board to get information about rescheduling.
- City of Doraville: The city will be postponing all public gatherings for at least the next 30 days. This includes the business forum that was going to be held on Tuesday, March 17, as well as the Spring Fling family event on Saturday, April 4. Both events will be rescheduled.
- Henry County Superior Court proceedings: Have been canceled for the weeks of 3/16 and 3/23. The Henry County District Attorney's Office will remain open for regular business hours.
- American Cancer Society: Events are suspended through March 31
- Baby Shark Live! The April 23 performance of Baby Shark Live! at Cobb Energy Centre has been postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date to be announced.
- Gwinnett County: No trials will be held in Gwinnett Superior Court pursuant to the attached Order.
- SAT testing at Lakeside High School: The test center is closed for the March 14 test date. Parents and students should contact College Board to get information about rescheduling.
- Atlanta Symphony Orchestra: Has elected to postpone or cancel all Symphony Hall performances and public facing activities beginning Friday, March 13 through Sunday, March 22, 2020, with a few additional Atlanta Symphony Hall LIVE postponements in March and April. Click here for details.
- Alliance Theatre: Will suspend all remaining performances in its 2019/20 season, as well as select programming and special events. At this time, spring break camps will continue as scheduled. More information is also available on our website at www.alliancetheatre.org/wellnessupdates.
- High School Fishing GHSA Cup: The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) in conjunction with FLW and The Bass Federation (TBF), announced today the postponement of the GHSA Cup – a special kickoff tournament held for GHSA-member schools originally scheduled for March 21 at Lake Oconee in Buckhead, Georgia. The event will be rescheduled for a later date.
- Bloody Mary Festival – Atlanta: This Sunday's event has been postponed. The new date is Sunday, July 26, 2020 (at the same venue).
- SAT testing at Benjamin E. Mays High School & South Atlanta High School: Testing scheduled to take place Saturday has been canceled. Parents and students should contact College Board to get information about rescheduling.
- Milton Parks and Recreation programs, rentals: The City of Milton has halted all Parks and Recreation programming -- including baseball, basketball, dance, lacrosse, music, Tai Chi and tennis -- run through the City. The stoppage goes through at least April 12, with City officials planning to reevaluate the situation in early April.
- V-103 LIVE Concert at State Farm Arena: The concert originally scheduled for March28 has been postponed. All tickets purchased for this show will be honored for the future date.
