AUSTELL, Ga. — In another display of the community helping each other out in times of need, Six Flags Over Georgia announced they would be donating nearly one ton of food to a local charity.
The local theme park said it would be donating more 1,600 pounds of fruit, vegetables and dairy to the Center for Children & Young Adults in Marietta amid school closures and quarantines.
“Six Flags Over Georgia and White Water are committed to serving our community through this unprecedented situation,” said Park President, Dale Kaetzel.

The donation is a continuation of their partnership with the center, which provides safe and suitable housing, youth development activities and comprehensive supportive housing services for at-risk homeless youth who have been abandoned, abused, neglected and/or exploited, the theme park said.
But Six Flags Over Georgia isn't the only place stepping up to fill a need while families are isolated and working from home. Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan also announced he would be making a donation to Atlanta-based charities amid the spread of the virus. Local school districts are also organizing plans to get meals to kids and their families who rely on school lunches.
