ATLANTA — A list circulating online that suggests multiple Georgia businesses will close for two weeks due to coronavirus is completely fake, Governor Brian Kemp said on Saturday.
The bogus post lists KIA, Milliken, Kaman Industrial Technologies, Freudenberg-NOK Sealing Technologies, Motion Industries, Industrial Services Partners, Mando America Corporation, Dongwon Autopart Technology and Interface as closing.
It has a big red graphic with the words "STATE OF EMERGENCY" written in all capital letters.
Above, the post even tells people to wash their hands and use hand sanitizer - possibly the only part of the post with any credibility. To give it a bit more, it's followed by the words "Thanks, Brian Kemp."
The problem: he didn't even write this.
Kemp shared the post in question along with an important message - especially given the storm of information surrounding coronavirus.
"Our office is unaware of the origin of this graphic, but it is FALSE," he wrote on Twitter. "While on social media, please verify any and all information before sharing."
