ATLANTA — More medical marijuana dispensaries could be coming to Georgia after the state's patient registry hit a milestone over the weekend.
That milestone is that 25,000 people are now registered to receive medical marijuana. That means that under state law, the commission that regulates sales, can issue more dispensing licenses.
As of now, Georgia has only 13 dispensaries that are owned by six companies authorized to sell medical cannabis.
Now that the registry has set the mark to move forward with more dispensaries, the Georgia Access to Medical Cannabis Commission can issue an additional dispensing license to each of those six companies.
