ATLANTA — Wednesday’s latest pollen count was considered moderate at 87 micro grams per cubic meter of air with trees being the main culprits. The Pine, Oak, Birch, Maple, and Sycamore were the main contributors.
Although the count is lower than it was a few days ago you still may be experiencing allergy symptoms.
The “priming effect” is what's responsible. This affect has been defined as an increase in reactivity and the nasal membranes following repeated exposure to Pollen.
We can experience symptoms when pollen levels are below the high and extremely high range if they have been exposed to their allergens already this season. So far we have had 4 days this month with high pollen levels.
Atlanta allergy and asthma says that traditionally the spring pollen numbers begin to increase and stay up after the third week in March.
So we are just beginning pollen season.
