Hosea Helps providing services for federal employees during shutdown

About 800,000 federal workers have been impacted by the partial government shutdown. Employees in need of services can receive them free of charge from Hosea Helps.

ATLANTA — Hosea Feed the Hungry is hosting three programs to help families directly impacted by the partial federal government shutdown in the metro Atlanta area.

On Monday, Jan. 21, at Hosea Helps Headquarters, located at 2545 Forrest Hills Drive, SW, Atlanta, Ga., 30315, the first 150 families will be able to receive grocery boxes, clothing, screening for SNAP benefits, screening for rent assistance and screening for utility assistance. Hours are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the Georgia International Convention Center, at 2000 Convention Center Concourse, Atlanta, Ga., 30037, attendees will be able to enjoy a meal and live entertainment. 

They will also obtain haircuts and hair braiding, fresh produce. Atlanta's largest free clothing market will also be located at this event. In addition, they will also be able to receive grocery boxes, screening for SNAP benefits, screening for rent assistance and screening for utility assistance. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In addition, weekly services are available at the Hosea Helps Day Center, located at 4215 Wendell Drive, SW, Atlanta, Ga., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors to this event will be able to receive grocery boxes, screening for SNAP benefits, screening for rent assistance and screening for utility assistance.

Federal employees can attend any of these events to obtain services for their families. Pre-registration is not necessary in order to attend. All of the services are provided free of charge.
