Discovery documents, including photos and documents, were finally released in the abduction case of Kamiyah Mobley.
Mobley was abducted just hours after her birth from a Jacksonville hospital only to be found alive and well 18 years later living with her alleged kidnapper, Gloria Williams, believing she was her mother.
In a police report released to First Coast News, Mobley told police, "We knew this day was coming, we just didn't think this soon."
In January, about 1,000 documents were handed over to Gloria Williams' attorney, Diana Johnson. The documents were not entered as Discovery - the technical name for material that may be used as evidence in the case. Those documents have now been released.
Included are photos and documents found in Gloria Williams' South Carolina home. The photos show Alexis Manigo (Kamiyah Mobley) as she grew through the years. There are photos of Mobley and Gloria Williams dating back to 1998, the year Mobley was abducted.
As part of a 200-plus page report released to First Coast News from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, a 25-page supplement report gives a timeline of the police investigation into the case.
In this report, Mobley told police in January of 2017 that she found out she was Kamiyah Mobley in the 10th or 11th grade.
Mobley was attempting to get a job and needed an ID and a social security number. When she confronted Gloria Williams about these items, Gloria told her about the kidnapping incident. Just three days before police spoke with Mobley and Williams, they went to Williams' parents' home to tell them. Mobley said that the family did not know about the incident until then.
The report goes on to say Williams' parents were shocked by the news. In an interview with police Williams' mother says she remembers Williams being pregnant and that they spoke on the phone every day. She said she remembered one day they did not speak and the next day Williams came home with a newborn baby.
Originally, Williams told her mother that she had gone into labor at work in Charleston and had the child at a Charleston hospital.
However, in January of 2017 Williams told her parents she was in "big trouble." Williams told them that she had miscarried her pregnancy and went to Florida and took a baby from the hospital.
Mobley said she has "had a good life," and that she was "spoiled," growing up. She said she was well taken care of and the baby of the family. The only exception, according to Mobley, was a poor relationship with the man she believed to be her father, Charles Manigo. She described the relationship as "awful," and said Williams told her she thought "a baby would straighten him up."
In 2015, Mobley looked up her biological mother and found a phone number for her. She said she called her and hung up when her mother picked up. In 2015, she received a text from her biological mother's number that said "Happy Birthday."
Mobley said she responded and texted back asking, "Why do you think it's my birthday?" but that the conversation did not continue.
On January 13, 2017, Gloria Williams was booked into jail. She could face a life sentence if she is convicted of the kidnapping and interfering with custody charges.
