FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. -- The Georgia Department of Corrections is investigating the death of an inmate at the Telfair State Prison, officials confirm.
On May 10 around 11 a.m., authorities said Humberto Hernandez suffered serious injuries during a serious fight with another prisoner. Prison officials tried to airlift the 41-year-old to a local hospital, but he died while on the way.
Hernandez had been in Telfair State Prison serving a life sentence for murder. Officials transported his body to the state crime lab for an autopsy where they are trying to determine a cause of death.
