ATLANTA — One person is dead, and two others are injured after a car crash in Atlanta on Saturday night, police said.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers responded to a report of a vehicle accident with injuries at Joseph E. Lowery Blvd. NW and North Ave. NW shortly after 11:30 p.m.
When they arrived, officers found two vehicles involved in the incident: a Ford Edge and a Volkswagen Jetta. The 33-year-old female driver of the Ford Edge was sent to the hospital in stable condition, and so was the 31-year-old male driver of the Volkswagen Jetta, police said.
However, a 31-year-old male passenger of the Ford Edge was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The man's name is currently unknown.
APD said the preliminary information indicates that the Ford Edge was going west on North Ave NW and was making a left turn onto Joseph E. Lowery Blvd NW when the driver stopped in the intersection and was hit by the Volkswagen Jetta heading north on Joseph E. Lowery Blvd NW.
Investigators with APD's accident investigations unit responded to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. This is an active investigation, police said.
