One person is dead after a fatal accident on Interstate 75 south. It happened overnight Sunday.
Authorities say a woman was traveling in a car in the southbound lanes of I-75 near Edgewood Avenue when the she lost control of the car and struck the inside wall of the highway.
She was transported to Grady Hospital, but later died. Authorities say she was not wearing a seatbelt. The victim's identity has not been released at this time.
Atlanta Police and the Department of Transportation shut down portions of I-75 south at Courtland Street while they investigated the scene. Authorities have not determined any factors that might have caused the car to crash.
