SPALDING COUNTY, Ga. — A 1-year-old child was killed, and seven people were injured in a crash on the interstate in Spalding County, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
On April 1, around 7:12 p.m., troopers responded to I-75 South near mile marker 206 in reference to a crash between a 2022 International tractor-trailer and a 2013 Hyundai Sonata.
Authorities said the driver of the Hyundai lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail before striking the tractor-trailer. After the collision, the driver of the tractor-trailer jackknifed, hit a guardrail, and overturned in the median.
A 1-year-old passenger was ejected from the Hyundai and died from the injuries. Seven other passengers involved in the crash were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.
The roadway was shut down for nearly three hours as crews worked to clear the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by GSP and it's unclear if anyone will face charges in the incident.
