TROUP COUNTY, Ga. — A 15-year-old boy is critically injured after Troup County Sheriff's Office deputies said he accidentally shot his 10-year-old sister before accidentally shooting himself.
Deputies were called out to a home around 10:40 p.m. in the 1600 block of Bartley Road of Troup County on Tuesday night in reference to two juveniles shot.
When they showed up, they found both a 15-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl suffering from gunshot wounds. Deputies began life-saving measures on both kids until first responders showed up and rushed them to Wellstar West Georgia Hospital.
The sheriff's office said that through the investigation, they learned that the 15-year-old shot his sister with a handgun and then, a few minutes later, shot himself. They said in an update on Friday that it was simply just a tragic accident in a case where he accidentally shot his sister and himself.
The girl remains in the hospital getting treatment, while the teen boy is in critical condition, deputies said.
