TROUP COUNTY, Ga. — Two people were killed, and three others are seriously injured after a drag race crash on Sunday in Troup County, according to Georgia State Patrol.
Troopers were dispatched to a crash along Antioch Road on March 10 at 8:56 p.m. When they arrived, it was determined that a Chevrolet S-10 was drag-racing another vehicle.
Authorities are still investigating but said they believe the driver of the S-10 lost control of the car and hit a Chevrolet Trailblazer that was parked on the shoulder of the roadway along with four spectators.
GSP initially reported that the driver of the S-10 was pronounced dead at the hospital, and the four people in the Trailblazer were severely hurt. An update on Monday from the Troup County Coroner's Office said that two people had died out of the five injured.
GSP said the second vehicle in the drag race left the location and was not identified.
