LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — A mother, her teen son and motorcyclist are now dead after a deadly Thursday night crash not far from downtown Lawrenceville, according to Gwinnett County Police.
The Loganville mother's 9-year-old son was also injured in the crash. He was taken to a local hospital for his injuries.
The wreck happened in the 1100 block of Scenic Highway South and Scenic Pines Drive in Lawrenceville near a Culver's fast food restaurant. The crash happened near a busy Gwinnett County shopping center and just two miles down the road from the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds.
According to law enforcement authorities, the Loganville mother was driving northbound on Scenic Highway in her silver Kia when she made a left turn onto Scene Pines Drive. Police said she reportedly turned into the motorcyclist's path when the deadly impact happened.
None of the victims' identities were released. The motorcyclist was a 27-year-old man from Snellville.
After the crash, the car and the motorcycle was impounded to the Gwinnett County Police headquarters. It is still unclear who the at-fault driver is because speed is being investigated as a possible contributing factor.
