USPS will permanently relocate Acworth post office that was on Alabama Road

The final decision on relocation was released Friday.
Georgia Democrats Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff have pressed Postmaster Louis DeJoy for answers to questions about mail delays.

ACWORTH, Ga. — The U.S. Postal Service has determined that an Acworth post office that had previously been on Alabama Road before closing will be permanently relocated.

USPS released the final decision on relocation on Friday. A release said the Oak Grove station that was once located at 5944 Alabama Road/Hwy. 92 will be relocated at a "new, yet-to-be determined location, as close as reasonably possible to the existing post office location."

"The Postal Service anticipates providing the same services at the new location as were provided to our customers at the Oak Grove Post Office. The Postal Service plans to continue to offer services at the Acworth Main Post Office located at 4915 Main Street location until the new facility is open and operating as a Post Office," the release said.

USPS announced last month it was seeking to relocate the operations of the post office and opened a 30-day period for comment, saying the relocation was being considered "'because of non-renewal of the lease at the current facility."
