ALPHARETTA, Ga. — A serious injury crash occurred in Alpharetta on Tuesday morning, the city's police department said.
According to Alpharetta Police, it happened on Windward Parkway at Westfield Drive. Alpharetta Fire said in an email it happened just after 10 a.m., "involving multiple vehicles with heavy damage."
There were no initial details on how the crash happened. Alpharetta Fire said there were "patients entrapped in the vehicles" who were extracted by firefighters and transported to hospitals with "varying injuries."
It was not clear how many people exactly were hurt.
Alpharetta Police posted a photo to X showing at least one fire truck on scene as well as additional police vehicles.
The department wrote: "Due to a serious injury traffic collision on Windward Parkway at Westfield Drive, one lane of Windward and all of Westfield has been closed to allow for the safety of all personnel and patients on scene."
In an email response to 11Alive, the department added: "We are currently estimating an hour to clear the area and are encouraging individuals to use alternate routes for travel until the area is open."\
