ALPHARETTA, Ga. — A large freon leak prompted the Costco in Alpharetta to be evacuated Thursday afternoon, according to the Department of Public Safety.
Firefighters responded to the leak at the Costco at 2855 Jordan Ct in Alpharetta shortly after 2 p.m. When fire crews arrived, they found a freon leak coming from one of the freezers.
"The leak has been controlled. The store remained evacuated while the building was ventilated and confirmed safe to re-enter," fire officials said in a statement.
No injuries or illnesses were reported.
Around 3:30 p.m., officials added all fire units returned to service and the building was turned back over to Costco officials.
11Alive SkyTracker flew over the scene around 4 p.m., where the front entrance was seen still taped off.
