CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. -- The human remains that were found earlier this month on a sprawling, Cherokee County farm have been identified.
According to the Cherokee County sheriff's office, the remains belong to Gary Farris, 58, who was the homeowner of 2155 Purcell Lane. Cherokee deputies said Farris was an attorney with Burr and Forman.
Officials are treating the case as a homicide, and "the sheriff’s office is confident that this is not a stranger-on-stranger crime and Mr. Farris knew the suspect(s)," the department said Friday.
The department said the remains were positively identified by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab.
The remains was found in a wooded area on the 10-acre property that also included a pond, a creek and several pastures.
