BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. -- Police have arrested two people in connection with a shooting in the parking lot of a Division of Family and Children Services office in Bartow County.

Cartersville Police spokesperson Lt. Mike Bettikofer said that police responded to a shooting Monday afternoon at 47 Brook Drive in Cartersville.

Authorities said they later found a victim at a nearby medical center. The suspect had fled.

According to a release from Georgia's Department of Human Services, the office was on lockdown for about an hour as police searched for the suspect.

The suspect was later identified as Stephen Jamal Herring, of Cartersville, Ga. A second person, Amanda Nichole Young, was identified as a co-conspirator. Both were located and arrested.

Herring was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He's also charged with outstanding sale of marijuana charged for an unrelated case.

Young is charged with false report of a crime, obstruction, party to a crime (aggravated asault) and harboring a fugitive.

No staff or employees of the DFCS office were injured, Bettikofer said. The shooting appeared to be unrelated to the office.
