ATLANTA — The Arthur M. Blank Hospital is giving the community a new sneak peak of its patient family amenities.
With the help of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Honorary Construction Managers Ariell-Faith, the senior vice president of facilities and services Chris Chelette gave a virtual tour of the layout.
In the video, Chelette explains that every new amenity was made to make sure families have all they need when they are at Children’s. The hospital will have 16 sleeping rooms for parents to check out, as well as washer/dryers and kitchenettes on every floor. There will also be a Family Resource and Business Center. It will provide parents with access to computers, printers and the internet.
Much of the enhancements were based on feedback from the Children's Family Advisory Council.
"This is one of my very favorite spaces in the building," Chelette said in the virtual tour while showcasing the Interfaith Chapel. "...Our patient families and visitors and even our staff can come in and take a moment and seek a moment of comfort..."
Outside of the hospital, there will be three miles of walking trails, secure gardens and quiet spaces for families to have a change of scenery.
In October, the hospital gave a tour its new patient rooms. They will have 446 licensed patient beds and each will include two televisions, a double pull-out couch and even a desk for parents to work when accompanying patients for long-term stays. Rooms also include closet storage space.
The Arthur M. Blank Hospital is expected to open in Sep. 29. Watch the tour below.
