Boyfriend charged in death of Athens woman already in jail, police say

Police say the boyfriend was already facing firearms charges

ATHENS, Ga. -- Police in Athens, Georgia say a man now charged with his girlfriend's murder was already in their jail.

On Wednesday, Athens-Clarke County police secured murder warrants for Antonio Littlejohn in connection with the January crime.

Police first arrived at the scene on Jan. 29 to find 22-year-old Jennifer Jacobs of Athens dead in her bedroom of a gunshot wound to the chest.

Both Littlejohn and a roommate of Jacobs were at the scene when police first arrived to the scene on Sartian Drive.

At the time of the crime, police knew that Littlejohn, a convicted felon, was in possession of a gun and they took him in on that charge. However, they had limited or no evidence at the time that he fired the gun.

That changed on Wednesday with the new charges. Police added that the crime appears to be a fatal case of domestic violence. The roommate was not involved in the incident and is not facing any charges.
