ATLANTA — After six weeks of closures for renovation, MARTA's Airport Station is reopening on Monday, signaling a sigh of relief for Atlanta commuters.
The renovation project began on April 8 and included work on the concourse and platform levels, including installing new flooring, lighting, and infrastructure for a new elevator.
MARTA officials said shutting down that area helped reduce construction time by 17 months.
During the last few weeks, those heading to the airport via MARTA have had to take shuttles between the College Park Station and Hartsfield-Jackson.
Below is a rendering of what the updated station looks like. 11Alive will continue to update this story with images of what the finished project looks like.
