ATLANTA — Atlanta Police say a man was shot and killed during a late night barbershop gathering along a popular section of Atlanta's Westside early Wednesday morning.
APD investigators were on scene on Howell Mill Road, just south of the intersection with 11th Street. Homicide Unit commander Lt. Andrew Smith said officers were called to respond to 1016 Howell Mill Road, the address for Barberlon ATL.
Lt. Smith said police learned there was a gathering at the barbershop of some kind, "after a night out on the town," and that an argument arose between two men at the gathering. One man shot another man in the group and fled.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police did not have identifying information about him yet, other than that he appeared to be in his late 30s or early 40s. Lt. Smith said the two men knew each other.
Police said they're still trying to confirm the identity of the victim, as well as the identity of the suspect. They are gathering video and witness statements, Lt. Smith said.
