ATLANTA — Traffic is flowing again after Atlanta Police launched an investigation into a "suspicious object" found on I-75/85 north near Decatur Street in Fulton County Monday afternoon.

APD said officers located the object on I-85 North on the shoulder, next to the HOV lane. Officers had that portion of the interstate shut down, but it has since been reopened.

Investigators with APD's Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit were able to examine the object safely and determined it to be inert. APD said the object did not contain any dangerous or hazardous materials.

APD's preliminary investigation revealed the object was a "novelty item made to look like a claymore mine."
