ATLANTA — An Atlanta Police officer was shot at during a traffic stop early Thursday morning. Luckily, the officer was not struck.
An Atlanta Police spokesperson said the officer was not injured and the suspect was not shot. It is unclear if police have the suspect in custody or what led to the traffic stop.
It happened just before 4 a.m. near Johnson Road and Rockdale Street in northwest Atlanta.
The officer was patrolling the area in an unmarked vehicle when the officer observed two stolen vehicles being driven in the area.
"The officer began to follow the stolen cars when occupants in both vehicles began shooting at the unmarked vehicle. The officer was not injured, and the police vehicle sustained a broken window. The suspects fled the area and the investigation is continuing," police said in a statement.
