ATLANTA — Atlanta's potential ban on ski masks and other face coverings has been put on hold - at least for now.
During the City of Atlanta Public Safety Committee meeting, the proposal failed to advance as others expressed concerns.
The plan would have made it illegal to wear ski masks, barrier face coverings, hoods or anything that might conceal someone's identity. Some critics said that the rule would go too far.
It won't be brought up to the full council.
However, City Council Member Antonio Lewis said the measure is delayed - not dead.
"I appreciate y'all for engaging," Lewis said during the meeting. "That's how we should work."
Lewis said he does plan to bring the proposal back but will put the focus solely on ski masks.
