ATLANTA — The Atlanta Pride Committee announced this year's theme and logo for the Atlanta Pride Festival and Parade. The theme for 2024 is “United with Pride."
Chris McCain, the Executive Director of Atlanta Pride, said the committee aims to “reinforce our dedication to standing together” through this year’s theme, on top of celebrating the Atlanta LGBTQ+ community.
“‘United With Pride’ is more than a theme – it is a call to action,” McCain said.
The Atlanta Pride Committee also released its official logo for the 2024 Atlanta Pride Festival. The logo, designed by Ben Ackerley, features “descending triangle shapes in the colors of the intersex-inclusive progress pride flag,” according to the press release.
Ackerley said the logo was inspired by the “iconic triangle imagery reclaimed by LGBTQ+ activists in the 1970s."
The Atlanta Pride Committee “serves as an advocate of, and resource to, gender and sexually diverse communities in Atlanta and the Southeastern United States,” according to its website. The organization hosts programming throughout the year, in addition to the annual Pride Festival.
Atlanta Pride was created in 1971 following the Stonewall Inn raid in 1969 and the protests that followed, according to the Atlanta Pride website. Though the Festival will not line up with national Pride Month this June, it overlaps with National Coming Out Day in October.
The Atlanta Pride Festival and Parade will take place October 12-13 at Piedmont Park. Passes are available for purchase on the Atlanta Pride website.
The “Premium Pass” for the event is available at a discounted price through June 30. The “Premium Pass” gives Festival-goers access to covered seating, premium bathroom trailers and opportunities to schedule meet-and-greet experiences with entertainment headliners, among other perks, according to the website.
