ATLANTA — The search for a superintendent for the Atlanta Public Schools is near completion. The district has completed interviews and named three finalists for the position.
This comes after the board extended their search back in April.
Interviews were held on June 9-11, and the Board of Education presented the finalists to a community panel. The panel heard a prepared presentation and asked direct questions. The board then received feedback, and it went into an executive session to assess the candidates further.
"We are proud to remain transparent throughout this process and confident it will allow the Atlanta Board of Education to select the best-fit leader for APS students, teachers, staff and the community," the Atlanta Board of Education said in a release.
Due to state law, the names of the finalists will not be released until the process is completed. The district hopes to have a superintendent in place by July 1.
