ATLANTA — Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens supported several local shops on Monday ahead of Small Business Saturday.

He visited multiple business districts as part of the city's Office of Economic Development's Atlanta Main Street "Shop Small" campaign.

“Atlanta is a city of connected neighborhoods, and it is important for our administration to lead by example by going into the community to show that you can buy great things while supporting our small businesses,” said Dickens.

Dickens toured and shopped at Turtle Island Trading and Sevananda—both in Little Five Points—Healing U Wellness Boutique, Pub EAV, The Victorian—which is in East Atlanta Village—Afro-Centric Network and JB’s Record Lounge in Historic West End.

“These small business owners are pillars in our community, they hire locally and great things happen when you shop small," Dickens added.

After his tour, he ate lunch at the Boxcar.

The city also noted in a news release that shopping locally has become more convenient in districts like Little Five Points, East Atlanta Village, and the West End following development projects.

Shopping local is also more convenient than ever before with roadway and pedestrian safety improvements in the three Atlanta Main Street districts,” said Atlanta Department of Transportation Commissioner Solomon Caviness. “ATLDOT is working to provide safer, more accessible infrastructure for the best transportation experience, be it walking, biking, rolling or scooting.”
