ATLANTA — Apalachee High School's soccer teams got to visit recently with Atlanta United, as the team told them they hoped they could help them "bring some joy in your process moving forward."
Those were the words from interim head coach Rob Valentino, who addressed the Apalachee girls' and boys' teams at United's training facilities. A video posted by the team on Wednesday showed that the Apalachee players got to observe training and meet some of Atlanta United's players.
Among the players featured in the video were Brad Guzan and Xande Silva.
"Thanks again for coming out here. Really appreciate you guys taking the time, I don't understand what you guys went through, but... what's happened will obviously change your guys' lives now, and I hope that we can bring some joy in your process moving forward," Valentino told the Apalachee soccer players.
Valentino added: "We just hope that we can be just something that you can find joy in. Enjoy the facility, enjoy the players out there training, again we're here to help in that process and just be here for you guys and the way forward."
The video shows the teams taking a photo with Atlanta United players and a banner reading what's become the Apalachee motto in the wake of the shooting: "Love will prevail."
