ATLANTA — The City of Atlanta will open two warming centers for much of the weekend with bitter cold weather on the way.
The first freeze of the season is expected in Atlanta in the early hours of Saturday morning, with wind chills in the 20s from about 3 a.m. to 9 a.m.
The city will open warming centers for that time, as well as for overnight Saturday into Sunday and overnight Sunday into Monday.
Atlanta warming center details
The City of Atlanta said in a release it will open two warming centers:
- Central Park Recreation Center, 400 Merritts Ave. NE
- Old Adamsville Recreation Center, 3404 Delmar Ln. NW
The operating hours are:
- Friday, November 29 at 8:00 p.m. - Saturday, November 30 at 10:00 a.m.
- Saturday, November 30 8:00 p.m. - Sunday, December 1 at 10:00 a.m.
- Sunday, December 1 at 8:00 p.m. - Monday, December 2 at 6:00 a.m.
The city says transportation will be provided from the Gateway Center shelter to these two locations at 8 p.m. nightly with return transportation in the morning also available.
